Services at the Eltham Centre

Date: 19th February 2010

A number of services have now resumed at the Eltham Centre following an electrical fire overnight on Saturday 13 February. Details are set out below.

Library services
The Library has re-opened and is now back to normal opening hours. Internet services are available.

Advice and Information Services
The main reception area is still closed, so advice services are currently operating from the Teen Zone in the library. Services available to residents are:

General advice on Council services; opportunity to pick up application forms and advice leaflets; tenancy services; repairs reporting for Council tenants; advice on housing benefit and Council tax benefit.

Citizens Advice
The appointment-based advice service is now operating normally. Telephone 08451 202931 for details.

Greenwich Community College
Day-time classes have resumed. Visit www.gcc.ac.uk for more information.

Leisure Centre
The fitness centre at the Eltham Centre reopened on Saturday 20 March, with temporary changing facilities only. Studio 2 is also open for group exercise classes (GLL peak times only). Access to these facilities is via the alley alongside the library.

A date for reopening the pool will be confirmed shortly. The spa and the crèche facility will follow on from that. While those leisure facilities in the building remain closed, residents can use other GLL leisure centres across the borough. GLL have a dedicated hotline for Eltham customers - please call 020 8851 8692 or visit the GLL website www.gll.org.

The Eltham Centre car park is closed to the public until further notice. An alternative car park is available close by, in Orangery Lane and there are metered bays in surrounding roads.

How to contact the Council
You can visit the Eltham Centre to use the library or get advice. For other services you can call the Council on 020 8854 8888, or visit the Riverside Centre on Woolwich High Street.

The Council is working hard to restore all services as soon as possible. However, this may take some time given the extent of the damage.
Updates will be regularly posted on the Council website www.greenwich.gov
