HOTEL
Plans for a 62 bed hotel in New Eltham are to be considered by Greenwich Council.
The new-build budget hotel is likely to be occupied by one of the national chains such as Travelodge or Premier Inn.
The site for the development is at Fiveways where the building currently containing Burger King would be demolished.
SEnine understands that Burger King is planning to move out due to poor trade and the site’s owner, Balbir Bains, asked local architectural practice March Design to draw up plans for a hotel on the site.
The proposals include provision for a 60 place underground car park and block of nine flats alongside Green Lane.
Burger King has occupied the site for more than decade when it replaced the Crossways public house, originally built in the 1920s.
Planning consultant Richard Quelch, who submitted the plans on behalf of Mr Bains, said: “We believe it would be a good use for the site and would provide an amenity which is needed in the area.”
The plans suggest that 10 jobs would be created in a four storey budget hotel which would also have a restaurant and meeting facilities.
